This is a case study of me, as a hotel videographer, working on a project for Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort in Thailand. The brief involved creating a brand video that would be used on the hotel's website and smart TVs in guest rooms. The objective was to showcase the hotel's amenities and the destination itself, inspiring visitors to visit Chiang Rai.

To start with, I familiarised myself with Le Meridien brand guidelines, which were the basis for the project. Next, I studied all available information about the hotel and created a film treatment in a PDF document, which I sent to the marketing department for review. This made the marketing team's work easier by giving them a clear timeline and visual references for the video.

While filming I used the 3rd point perspective. It’s like I was following the Hero on his perfect holiday. I captured how the resort's employees make it possible for the guests to have an unforgettable stay. Depending on the situation, I used a handheld camera to give a documentary-style feel, especially when filming outside the hotel. Inside the hotel, I used an electronic gimbal to portray the safety that the hotel provides.

During the two-day video shoot, we filmed in the hotel on the first day and various locations in Chiang Rai on the second day. I used a combination of shots filmed on wide-angle and portrait lenses to make the footage look diverse and to show the Heroes' faces from appealing angles.

After completing the project, I received high evaluations from both the resort's Director of Sales and Marketing and General Manager, who were impressed by the final result. They also recommended me to other hotels that require video production services.

Creating a brand video for Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort was an exciting and fulfilling project. It required following the brand guidelines and showcasing the hotel's amenities, rooms, and destination in an inspiring way. By using a combination of techniques and equipment, I was able to create a video that met the hotel's expectations and satisfied the marketing team's requirements.
